Long Island’s Natural Lands and Waters Need Your Help
As threats to Long Island’s environment grow, The Nature Conservancy is developing new tools to help us realize our conservation goals. We know that the reasonable, well-informed voices of conservation minded people like you can make a big difference in educating and persuading public officials to make the environment a priority. Towards that end, we have launched LInature.org to help achieve increased public funding and stronger environmental policies at the Town, County, State and Federal levels.
By joining LInature.org, we’ll make it easy for you to reach your local, State and Federal elected officials about issues related to keeping Long Island’s environment healthy and thriving. Several times a year, you will receive action alerts regarding a specific issue and the precise way you can help. Your level of participation is up to you. Please keep in mind that it often only takes hearing from a relatively small group of well-informed constituents to get the attention of elected officials on important conservation issues.
Our 2007 Long Island’s Last Stand report focused on increasing New York State funding to Long Island. With your help, we have already successfully lobbied for a $5 million increase to the Environmental Protection Fund!
